Often people attempt to live their lives backwards: they try to have more things, or more money, in order to do more of what they want so that they can be happier. The way it actually works is the reverse. You must first be who you really are, then do what you really need to do, in order to have what you want.

Seriously? Is this going to be a thing now?

I was at the gym tonight and after my run/stretch I decided to do some upper body weights. This guy on the FreeMotion machine next to me came over and became giving me unsolicited advice.

“You want to lose weight? This is what you need to do….”

“Work out first thing in the morning. Don’t eat breakfast. Take a walk/or run (whichever you can do). Eat more protein. Don’t get frustrated when the weight doesn’t come off right away. Look at me, I have a belly too. See?!”

Ugh.

UGH.

UGH

I so wanted to say, I so wish I could make my annoyed self actually say these words:

The one part of the gym I always enjoyed is the gentleman’s agreement that we don’t go around acknowledging why we’re all there in the first place.

I’m here. You’re here. WE ARE HERE. Let’s not make this a thing. Because seriously.

Seriously.

Leave me alone.
